Getting Farther From Home
As we noodle down the Oregon Coast, it's becoming even more clear that we are becoming farther and farther from home and it's going to be unlikely we may ever return to Seattle. I may never get to the top of the Space Needle, and as that slowly dream fades behind me, I try ever so slightly to open my sights to new dreams opening up on the horizon.
For now, it's the ever unfolding beauty of the Oregon Coast, which seems almost ridiculous in it's splendor...gentle mountains unfurling like arms embracing the mighty Pacific, and gentle rays of sun emblazoning mossy forests along the windy roads. The story of the Oregon Coast unfolds predictably like a Disney movie, but still managing to capture my imagination.
Clearly, we are not out of the woods yet, and as we drop a few inches down the map things are a few degrees warmer, and because we area still technically in the Northwest, I relish our slow exodus out of the cold as I say good bye to that we left behind, especially my sweet dog, Betty here in spirit by my side.
